Health, well-being, beauty
Nowadays spas are no longer simply places for medical treatment; they offer facilities for regenerating both body and mind.
In this respect the Neapolitan Riviera has even more to offer than in the past, thanks to the quality of its mineral waters, its mild climate, and above all the spectacular natural setting of many of its spa establishments.
Where else is it possible to bathe in hot mineral pools, look after your health and indulge in complete relaxation, with monuments such as a Greek temple or a Roman amphitheatre close at hand?
It is certainly no coincidence if the first spa goers were the Greeks and Romans themselves, enthusiastic adepts of the mineral waters and hot springs, scattered along the coast, for their therapeutic properties.
If Baia, with its mineral springs and unrivalled natural position, was the favourite resort of emperors and wealthy aristocrats, nowadays the resources the region has to offer in terms of spas and well-being are much more extensive.
This is true first of all for Ischia, where mineral springs are to be found everywhere: on the beaches, in the hills, even in the sea, with springs, fumaroles and mudbaths which you can enjoy immersed in verdant nature.
In the Phlegrean area the spas of Agnano, Pozzuoli and Baia are set amidst craters, fumaroles and spectacular archaeological “vistas”.
Not far from Pompeii and Herculaneum, Torre Annunziata, Castellammare di Stabia and, a little further on, Vico Equense, with the spa of Lo Scrajo, give you the chance of alternating saunas and Turkish baths, bathing and applications of mud with visits to some of the most celebrated archaeological sites in the world
