OUR OPINION

The Villa di Monte Solare is an elegant Villa in the countryside around Lake Trasimeno, between Tuscany and Umbria.

This charming hotel offer a great setting among woods, olive groves and vineyards for a holiday of great charm and tranquility.

In the gardens of Villa di Monte Solare there are two swimming pools where guests can spend days of relaxation. For sport lovers, there is a tennis court and, in the immediate vicinity, two magnificent golf courses.

The Villa retains unaltered the original characteristics: large fireplaces, wall decorations, old brick and  vintage furnitures.

The Cellar

The owners of Villa di Monte Solare, Filippo and Rosi Iannarone, began a passionate research and selection of exclusively Umbrian produced wines in 1989.

After a few years the Villa di Monte Solare Cantina’s wine list was recognised as the most important and widest range of selected Umbrian wines in the world.

Today the wine list includes more than 400 Umbrian wines including whites, reds and spumanti from the best, most well known producers, as well as many particular and rare wines from small and very skilled producers.

Moreover, a selection of the most renown Italian wines and a list of Umbrian spirits complete the bibendum.

Every week restaurant guests are given the opportunity to sample special food and wine combinations and several times per year special evenings are dedicated to wine tastings hosted by very skilled producers.




Guestrooms are allocated in five different historic buildings, from an ancient patrician Villa to the lemon house, the former olive mill and farm houses of the estate, all enjoy the most beautiful views over the Umbrian countryside.

All rooms offer a high degree of comfort and provides for beautiful traditional fabrics from Montefalco, mini-bar, safe, room entertainment system by “Quadriga” with digital TV on 32’’ high-resolution flat screens, music- and video-on-demand, high speed and wireless internet access, telephone with direct external line, air conditioning and heating.

The bathrooms have either bath tub or shower, a hairdryer and a magnifying mirror.

Situated in the Villa, Olivaia and Olivi they are made up of a spacious bed room with double bed or two single beds and a comfortable reading area with armchairs and a bathroom.

Situated in the Olivaia and Limonaia they are made up of a very spacious bed room with double bed or two single beds and a comfortable reading area with armchairs and a bathroom.

Situated in the Villa and Casa dei Gelsi they are made up of a bedroom with double bed or two single beds, a bathroom and a separate sitting room with armchairs and a couch.
Each Suite in Casa dei Gelsi has an independent entrance and a balcony or terrace with chairs and table.

Situated in the Villa and Olivaia these luxury rooms are made up of a double bed and separate sitting room, two bathrooms, Jacuzzi tub, precious fabrics and exclusive amenities.

The Hotel Villa di Monte Solare is Tavernelle of Panicale, a small town in the countryside near Lake Trasimeno, along the border between Umbria and Tuscany.

Perugia is the city closest to the Villa di Monte Solare, but you can reach easily, Orvieto, Todi, and Castiglione del Lago, Tuscany, Chianciano Terme, Montepulciano, Pienza.

Panicale, as it is the case for most of the villages of the region, still maintains a medieval aspect due typically to the remains of the old town-walls and the fortified doors.

Although the church of the Madonna delle Grazie and that one of S.Augustin are by far remarkable buildings, the main attraction of the village has to be found in the magnificent views over Lake Trasimeno and the valley of the Nestore River.

To whom, however, artistic works are more interesting, good reasons to visit in Panicale the church of S. Sebastiano, are offered by two frescoes of the Perugino: "Martyrdom of St. Sebastiano" and "Incoronazione di Maria" as well as by the beautiful facade of the Collegiata, which locates in St. Michele square.
