In the Mandranova kitchen, Silvia cooks local dishes such as wild-fennel pesto and caponata e polpette in agrodolce (eggplant ratatouille with meatballs in sweet-and-sour sauce).
 

The farmhouse has 6 double bedrooms and 3 suites.

Original family furniture adds to the authenticity and comfort of the typical Sicilian surroundings.

All rooms are equipped with central heating and air-conditioning.

There's also 2 self-catering cottages called the Casello and the Robazza.

• La Robazza

The two bedrooms on the ground floor are deliberately in minimal style while respecting the original features and are equipped with air conditioning and all comforts. The bathroom with a shower is accessed from each room.

The living room leads to a another room on the first floor, overlooking the valley that stretches to the sea, with two beds.

La Robozza is blessed with a private swimming pool.
 

• Casello

The Casello has a dining room with a long table and a galley kitchen which opens onto a secluded patio area.

On the first floor the two bedrooms are spacious and bright, the iron furniture and fabrics used complement the Sicilian furnishings.

The rooms have both a four-poster bed with a sofa that can be used as a third bed. From each room, you can access a bathroom with shower. Air conditioning.

There's a string of empty beaches a 20-minute drive, two towns of fading grandeur (Palma di Montechiaro and Licata), and the Unesco listed Roman mosaics at Piazza Armerina.

Palma di Montechiaro

Palma Montechiaro, located a few miles from Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples,  is known as the city of the Gattopardo. Founded in May 3, 1637 by Charles Caro and Tomasi di Lampedusa.

One of his descendants is the author Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa (1896-1957) author of the famous novel.

When to go and how long

Palma di Montechiaro is perfect for a 3-5 days visit in Spring and Autumn to avoid heat and crowd.

It's an excellent base to explore the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento and swim in the beautiful bay of ''Scala dei Turchi'' or in many of the secluded beaches only few minutes from Mandranova Resort.

You can book the hotel-owned speedboat or a skippered 8-berth yacht, it costs €400/day for 6-8, including a gourmet barbeque lunch.
