• Deluxe Green Junior Suite

The most exclusive. Master bedroom, it reflects the importance and the authority of its original use. It’s the widest room, the only one with two balconies placed on two different facades of the building.

Green is the colour which predominates both in the beautiful floors and in the original furnishings in Venetian style.The ceilings, delicately frescoed, frame the beautiful chandelier in liberty style.

• Deluxe Blue room

Originally the living-room of the house, nowadays it keeps unaltered the charm of its original aspect thanks to the beautiful ceramic tiles of eighteenth-century floor, the frescoed vaults and the antique furniture. The large size, its colours and its lights create a very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.

• Deluxe Red Room

The most romantic. Room 102 has kept the warmth and the elegance of the dining-room. Strong red colours, almost intrusive.

Antique furnishings and inlaid furniture insert so perfectly in the environment, they create a pleasant play of harmony and colours.

The wonderful beaches of the Ragusa coast are about 15 km from the Hotel.

The hotel is located in the upper part of Modica, a few hundred meters from the Duomo di San Giorgio and the Castle of the Counts.

The beautiful beaches of Marina di Midica are approximately 8km away.

Modica

The city of 100 bells and 100 churches is divided into two parts, Modica Alta (higher) and Modica Bassa (lower), which are connected by numerous flights of steps

It share the same history with the other towns of the Val di Noto, when they were destroyed by the 1693 earthquake and largely rebuilt in Sicilian Baroque style.

In fact, Baroque is the predominant style with magnificent churches, inspiring domes, bell towers and intricate facades.

Undoubtedly the beautiful Church of San Giorgio stands out among the Palazzi and houses rising from the bottom of the gorge seemingly stacked one on top of the other.

Modica is also custodian of a 400 year tradition of Sicilian chocolate-making.

Being part of the Spanish kingdom for so many years meant that Sicily was often one of the first recipients of the new foodstuffs being brought back from South America. Cacao was one of these and today Modica still specialises in making granulous chocolate, often flavoured with chilli pepper, cinnamon or vanilla, that is based on Aztec methods and recipes.

Chocolate shops abound and, for the real chocoholic, it is sometimes possible to watch the “chocolatiers” at work.  Maybe the best chocolate shop, and certainly the oldest in Sicily, is the Antica Pasticceria Bonaiuto in Corso Umberto I, 159.
