OUR OPINION
This monastery of the XV century at the foot of the hill of San Martino in Naples was founded by Augustine da Miglionico of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual, who built a small cell on this mountain which, over time, became a comfortable convent.
The refectory, the monks’s old cells , the stucco and frescoes, witness to the artistic heritage of the complex, have been wisely preserved through the work of restoration and let you immerse yourself in a charming atmosphere of the past.
The architectural structure has remained intact, but all the modern comforts have been added such as Jacuzzi tub or shower that, with a classic design and use of colors, give the rooms a measured elegance.
The flagship is undoubtedly the roof garden where you can contemplate all Naples, the hill, the vineyard and the monastery of San Martino and Castle Sant’Elmo.
Here, among the gardens, walkways and pergolas, you’ll find a swimming pool dug into the tufaceous rock equipped with sun loungers.
A second pool with hot water, and an hammam is located inside a cave.
Breathtaking view on Naples and Mount Vesuvius can be seen from the restaurant ”La Terrazza dei Barbanti” where you can enjoy fine dining with Mediterranean flavors and dishes from the Neapolitan tradition.
The 44 rooms are all panoramic and derived from the ancient cells of the friars.
