Ischia
From the geological point of view, the island of Ischia's volcanic nature, formed after several eruptions have occurred over 150,000 years.
The island of Ischia, known as the Green Island, is especially famous for the richness of its thermal springs and the beauty of its beaches and forests. It is divided into six municipalities and is the largest of the islands in the Gulf of Naples.
Ischia is characterized by an extreme variety of places and really beautiful landscapes: sandy beaches and rocky bays, hills planted with vines and the mountain Epomeo surrounded by forests of oaks and acacias.
The thermal waters of the Island of Ischia are well known and used since ancient times, dating back to the eighth century BC when the Greeks landed here and founded Pithecusae the first Greek colony in the west.
Today, what is left of that period is exposed at the Archaeological Museum full of precious relics as the Cup of Nestor, the earliest example of Greek writing in Italy.
Probably the island of Ischia owns its reputation to the health properties of its thermal waters and its famous spa resorts
