Santa Maria di Castellabate
A fishing village and holiday resort located in a cove between Punta and Punta Tresino Licosa,
Santa Maria di Castellabate is one of the most popular towns of the Cilento Park, well known for its sandy beaches as well as its lively center, where the evening passeggiata is in full swing, with young and old strolling along the seafront.
Witness to its charm are the palaces and houses of the historic centre, interspersed with typical fishermen dwellers still today engaged in the fishing of tuna and swordfish
An important event is held in mid-August, with the festivities of the patron saint, Santa Maria a Mare.
Also in the first ten days of September the annual games of the county take place at the beach of Marina Piccola: these consist, among others, competing in tug of war, broken pots, and sack races bringing into play the teams of the different districts.
Santa Maria di Catellabate is a great base to explore the archaeological sites of Paestum (19 km) and Velia-Elea (38 km), Agropoli (12 km), Acciaroli (20 km), Casal Velino (37 km) and Ascea Marina (38 km) and Pisciotta (51 km). It is 61 km from the caves of Palinuro and 78 km from Marina di Camerota
